FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY (FAT)
FAT was established in December 2018 that a division under the direct management of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Vietnam National University (VNU).
FAT is a division that educated undergraduate, and graduate to delivery of the human resources in high-quality technology, and high level. It is a division where studies, improvement, and application of advanced science and technology in the agricultural field to contribute to the development of advance agriculture, produce for goods with high quality, efficiency, and great competitiveness. Thereby, it contributed strongly to the development of the country's economy and increase knowledge in the trend of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

• Department of Microbiology (To be affiliated with Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology, VNU) (to be established)
• Department of applied Digital in Agriculture (to be established)
• Department of Applied Automation in Agriculture (to be established)

Strategy for Development
1. Mission
FAT educates the human resources for technology that has high quality, high level. It aims to study for improvement and application of advanced science and technology in the agricultural field. Thereby, it contributes to the development of agriculture that becomes advance, producing high-quality goods, efficiency, and strong competitiveness. Thus, it contributes positively to the general development of the economy and knowledge improvement in the trend of the 4.0 integration technology.

2. Insight
1). Advanced technology was applied in agriculture plays a core role in improving the efficiency of agricultural production. It contributes to increasing income for people, increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products, contributing to the industrialization and modernization of rural areas agriculture. In addition, it contributes to enhancing the position of the country's agriculture. Therefore, FAT focuses on priority areas including education and research and development of advanced agricultural technology based on applying the update achievements in mechanics, electronics, information technology, automation nanotechnology, and biotechnology, etc.
2). FAT combines a close relationship between training and research. It promotes research to knowledge improving, technology, and practical application orientation to training students who can practice, immediate access to the context of Vietnam for the effective application of technology advanced into Vietnamese agriculture.
3). FAT focuses on VNU's strong fields including precision engineering, electronics, automation, information technology, nanotechnology, and application based on oriented biotechnology in agriculture. It contributes to the great relationship between humans and technology is complementary to the research fields of the institutes/schools of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

4. FAT is a link between VNU and the agriculture sector.
5. Students of FAT was trained on the principle of "studying by doing" that help to have the skills to research, promotes to develop and apply advanced technologies not only in the agriculture field but also in the key national economic fields.

3. Strategy
1) Phase I: It was developed the applied research in agriculture based on the available achievements of the faculties of the UET in particular and VNU in general. Thereby, FAT trains technology engineers aim to practice in the fields of electronics and telecommunication, digital, sensor, automation engineering, and nanotechnology, etc in agriculture industry.
2) Phase II: FAT combines together with scientists of the UET, VNU that research and development of advanced technologies applied to the Agriculture sector.
Based on applied research, FAT trains students according to the principle of "studying by doing". Thereby, FAT created for technologists who have great knowledge of technology in practice agriculture.

4. Step-by-step
i) FAT combines together with the scientists of VNU to screen the available technologies and classify them according to 3 levels: a) ready for application in agriculture. FAT proposes to promote the application of these technologies in agriculture. b) Potential technologies should consider improvement to apply in the agriculture sector. FAT is together scientists of VNU to perfect to bring these new technologies into agriculture. c) FAT proposes to research and development of the new technologies that have advanced, modern, and potential to promote applied agriculture in the future.
ii) FAT builds an experimental agriculture technology farm in Hoa Lac province on an area of 5-10 hectares. It includes a range of net houses, greenhouses, screen houses, and systems of cultivating rice and upland crops, etc. test the new technologies, equipment, and to help to train students.
iii) It was should support the faculties of the UET with core equipment, facilities for development research that applied technologies in the agriculture sector. It aims to strengthen the capabilities of the faculties of the UET in the research field of applied technology in the agricultural industry.
iv) FAT closely combines with research institutes of the Ministry of Agriculture based on the support complementarity for research and development and to present new technologies and techniques into agriculture and train students.
v) FAT develops international cooperation relationships, thereby learns experience, exploring the potential intellectually, transfer to technology, and train students.
vi) FAT implements cooperation with high-tech companies, special conduct joint aims discover to the potential of Hoa Lac's available land for technology application, reduce the cost of operating the experimental campus in the process of train students and implements the technology.
