Three outstanding student-led scientific research projects have been nominated to participate in the University-Level Student Scientific Research Conference for the 2024–2025 academic year. These projects reflect the students’ dedication to scientific inquiry and the wholehearted guidance and support from their faculty advisors.
🔬 Project 1: Investigation of YABBY Transcription Factor-Encoding Genes Associated with Adverse Responses in Cassava (Manihot esculenta)
Conducted by students Lê Đức Chiến, Đào Thị Chúc, Lê Thanh Tình, and Trần Minh Hiếu, under the supervision of Dr. Hoàng Thị Điệp (Faculty of Information Technology) and Dr. Chu Đức Hà (Faculty of Agricultural Technology). This study holds significant implications for gene function analysis, with the potential to contribute to the development of cassava cultivars with enhanced resilience to environmental stress.
📊 Project 2: Development and Optimization of Machine Learning Models for Rice Grain Counting and Size Analysis in Breeding Programs
This research was carried out by students Nguyễn Minh Quân, Nguyễn Thị Kim Cúc, Lê Hoàng Vũ, and Nguyễn Văn Quyết, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phạm Minh Triển (Faculty of Agricultural Technology) and MSc. Vũ Minh Trung. The project demonstrates a novel integration of artificial intelligence with agriculture, aiming to optimize the rice breeding process—a pioneering step in the application of digital technology to precision agriculture.
🍊 Project 3: Improving the MobileNet v3 Small Model for Disease Recognition in Citrus Leaves
Conducted by students Phùng Trường Trinh and Hà Quang Hưng, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phạm Minh Triển. This research aims to enhance the rapid and accurate identification of plant diseases, contributing to the advancement of automated diagnostic technologies for sustainable agriculture.
📚 Notably, the outcomes of all three projects have been published in international conferences (Scopus-indexed), international journals (WoS/Scopus), or peer-reviewed national journals, demonstrating their academic rigor and relevance. These achievements mark an important milestone in the students’ scientific development and highlight the dedicated mentorship provided by their faculty advisors.

Today, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology organized a seminar with CABI (Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International) – a leading global non-profit organization in agriculture and biosciences. This was a precious opportunity for students of cohorts 66, 67, 68, and 69 to listen, learn, and directly engage with international experts.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Nguyễn Văn Hạnh, a leading expert in Embryology and Cell Biology, who officially joins the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, University of Engineering and Technology – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, starting from July 1, 2025.
After hours of intense studying and stressful exam prep, students from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology now have a new space to relax, connect, and recharge their energy – the Badminton Club for students and young lecturers, established by the Facultys Youth Union and Student Association.
